Part One The concepts of Messianic Transformational Leadership

2. Rev. Sun Myung Moon's individual perfection during study abroad in Japan.

Up to 1943, Rev. Moon had been closing all the internal and external preparations for the beginning of his public ministry.

This course resembled Moses’ palace life: Although Rev. Moon entered the Japanese empire, he maintained unshakable loyalty and fidelity to 'Chosen Lineage', just as Moses did.

Also, it was a period to restore God’s Word; therefore, Rev. Moon led lives of self-denial, self-sacrifice, selflessness to discover the cores of Divine Principle such as ‘relationship between God and man’, ‘the Fall’, etc., just as Jesus and Moses recovered God’s Word in the wilderness.

Furthermore, during this period, Rev. Moon developed his ability, health, character, and so forth, which should be fit to fulfill his missions. For this, Rev. Moon trained himself to control three major desires: sleep, hunger and sexual desire and experienced every kind of life-style.

Rev. Moon eventually reached 'individual perfection' so that he could 'experience God’s Heart as if it were his own'.(Moon Sun Myung Seonsaeng Malseum Seonjip, 1984. vol. 22, p.120: “I had various experiences from the slums to a beggar’s life through which I could feel God's Heart and understand why God was not able to accomplish his ideal for a long time.”)

Based on this victorious foundation of individual level, Rev. Moon could begin his public ministry.
